Generally speaking, most of the LED displays we see are flat-mounted and are composed of conventional hard modules. However, some curved screens, cylindrical screens, or other curved LED displays require soft modules to be installed. So, what are the soft modules of LED displays, and what are the advantages of LED soft modules?
In simple terms, the LED soft module itself can be bent. Compared with conventional LED hard modules, conventional hard modules are made of hard PCB boards and bottom shell masks, without any softness. When encountering arcs, the center of the bend is either unusable or requires special processes such as corner cutting to manufacture, but doing so will increase the cost a lot, and the process is not very mature.
The emergence of LED soft modules is to solve the problem of arc display. LED soft modules are also called LED flexible screens, arc LED displays, etc., because their LED modules are relatively soft, foldable, and bendable, such as inner arcs, outer arcs, wave arcs, etc., and their performance is also stable.
The display principle of LED soft module is the same as that of conventional LED hard module. The difference is that the soft module uses flexible PCB and bottom shell mask, which makes the module soft and can be folded more than 90 degrees.
In practical applications, LED soft module has many advantages and can be made into a variety of display modes, such as arc LED, cylindrical LED, wavy LED, etc., as follows:
1. Curved LED display
In some places that are curved, some customers want to install a curved arc to install a large display screen, and some need to make a curve directly, and the arc is also divided into inner arc or outer arc, which can be achieved by using soft module installation.
If the arc is relatively small, then it can be installed with an ordinary bracket; if the arc is relatively large, then a customized bracket must be made, the bracket itself is made into an arc structure, and then the soft module is attached.
2. Column LED display
In the lobbies of some shopping malls, hotels, conference rooms, bars, etc., there are generally many cylindrical columns. Some customers want to design these columns into display screens to play some special videos to enhance the decoration grade or create a special atmosphere. It is very complicated to do it with conventional screens, but it can be well achieved using LED soft modules.
3. Special shapes such as waves and ribbons
Waves and ribbons are often used by designers. How to realize them is still up to the manufacturers of LED display screens. LED soft modules have many applications. They are mainly used for their high flexibility, foldability, and bendability. They can be made into various shapes according to the required display shape.
